ABOUT JIM MOUREY
changing the world, one mind at a time...
James A. Mourey, Ph.D.

Born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, the town with the longest official Main Street in the world (...it's 9.2 miles if you're wondering), Jim Mourey has led a life that, much like his hometown's Main Street, is diverse, varied, and always under construction. A first-generation college graduate, a distinction he shares with his three siblings, Jim attended Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in Marketing and International Business and earned a 4.0 GPA. His parents were pleased. Jim then worked as an account executive in a marketing firm specializing in luxury products and brands before venturing out to sunny Los Angeles where he served as the executive director of a management and marketing consultancy's research division. Following this, Jim returned to the midwest - with a more tanned and muscled physique - to pursue his Ph.D. at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
While studying at Michigan Jim explored the role relationships play in consumer contexts and the varying degree of influence that subtle cues - social cues, cultural cues, etc. - can exert on our choices and behaviors. His dissertation was the recipient of both university and field-wide awards, and Jim successfully scored a 5.0/5.0 teaching evaluation while also maintaining a 8.2/8.0 weighted GPA. His parents were again pleased. Upon graduation Jim accepted a tenure-track faculty position at DePaul University's Driehaus College of Business where he teaches Consumer Behavior and conducts research in his Modern Marketing Lab. In addition to his academic work, Jim has had the opportunity to speak to companies and audiences across the United States - from Harvard to the University of Houston, West Palm Beach to Malibu - in which he shares his research findings and, more importantly, engages practitioners and students in interactive sessions for the purpose of improving their work, their relationships, and their overall well-being.
In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Jim is a self-taught pianist, singer-songwriter, a cappella singer, improv actor, fitness buff, and world traveler...it turns out that life is infinitely better when your Main Street never ends...
